People with diabetes but not cardiovascular disease who took prophylactic CV medications had a 61% decrease in their risk for myocardial infarction and a 41% drop in their risk of death, according to a study presented at the virtual European Society of Cardiology Congress. Researcher Dr. Christine Gyldenkerne said other factors may have contributed to the reduced risks, including better diabetes control, smoking cessation, physical activity and healthier eating.
