A new machine learning prognostic test called KidneyIntelX was able to predict kidney outcomes better than clinical models among type 2 diabetes patients and those with APOL1-HR genotype, according to a study in Kidney360. Three plasma biomarkers -- TNFR-1, TNFR-2 and KIM-1 -- and laboratory values or vital signs tied to kidney disease were the primary features that most contributed to the improved performance of KidneyIntelX, according to researchers who based the findings on data from 1,369 patients.
