Women who followed a Mediterranean diet had a 22% lower stroke risk, while men who adhered to the diet reduced their risk by 6%, which could be a chance finding, researchers reported in the journal Stroke. The study was based on more than 23,000 men and women, aged 40 to 77, who were followed for 17 years.
