CMS Administrator Seema Verma said the agency is withdrawing the proposed Medicaid Fiscal Accountability Rule from its regulatory agenda after hearing concerns about possible unintended consequences, "which require further study." Verma said the proposed rule was designed to improve Medicaid transparency, but health insurance providers, states and other stakeholders warned the rule could result in massive program cuts that could harm health care providers and beneficiaries.
