Rystad Energy predicts that the price of West Texas frac sand will slide by 19% this year to $30 a ton, while Wisconsin sand prices will be down by 29% to $25 a ton amid an oversupplied market and faltering demand. Additionally, Rystad sees the market share of Wisconsin miners shrinking from 75% in 2014 to 34% in 2020 because of the Permian Basin sand boom.
