The liquefied natural gas export boom along with an increase in natural gas pipeline flows to Mexico helped the US become a net natural gas exporter in 2017 for the first time in 60 years. Net exports averaged about 400 million cubic feet per day last year, compared with net imports of 1.8 billion cubic feet per day in 2016, according to Energy Information Administration analyst Victoria Zaretskaya.
