The number of oil and natural gas production jobs in Texas could fall from 162,350 in June to roughly 150,000 in the next three months, which would mark the lowest level since 2005, according to Karr Ingham, petroleum economist at the Texas Alliance of Energy Producers. The decline could be worse if new coronavirus restrictions are imposed, Ingham said, adding that a recovery in rig count and oil and gas employment to pre-pandemic levels looks highly improbable right now.
