As Hurricane Michael barreled toward the US Gulf Coast, area operators shut down almost 40% of daily oil production, or about 670,800 barrels, as well as 726 million cubic feet of daily natural gas output, midday on Tuesday. At least 75 offshore platforms and several ports have been evacuated and suspended operations, including the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port.
