Chinese companies are interested in sourcing low-cost ethane from the US for ethylene production, but face barriers such as the US' limited export capacity, uncertainty between the two nations and a lack of support from Chinese policymakers. China could produce more than 20% of the world's ethylene output by 2024, and that doesn't factor in ethylene produced from US-sourced ethane, said consulting firm Wood Mackenzie.
