Enbridge filed a lawsuit on Tuesday to fight Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's recent order to shut down the 67-year-old Line 5 oil and natural gas liquids pipeline that runs under the Straits of Mackinac. The pipeline company claims Whitmer's move is an overreach of the state's authority, adding that the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has "exclusive authority" over energy pipelines.
