Six lawsuits have been filed over a proposed 2020 census question about citizenship status, and emails indicate that Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross is preparing to take the issue all the way to the Supreme Court. Opponents of the question say that asking about citizenship status could reduce census participation among noncitizens and reduce the census' accuracy.
