A lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton targets a Biden administration immigration policy that has reduced the number of Department of Homeland Security detainer requests for certain people convicted of crimes while in the US without legal permission. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo says deporting people convicted of crimes such as terrorism should be the priority, noting that interim guidance on the issue "does not require or prohibit the arrest, detention or removal of any noncitizen."
