Pharmacist-led intervention boosts ART adherence in patients with HIV

Including pharmacists in multidisciplinary health care teams improves HIV patients' adherence to antiretroviral therapy, according to a study published in the Journal of Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy. Viral load decreased to undetectable levels in patients referred to a pharmacist-led ART adherence clinic, and the researchers estimated a 3:1 return on investment in avoided medical costs.
