Civil engineers with the Illinois National Guard and medical personnel have inspected shuttered hospitals and hotels in the Chicago area as possible venues to receive patients with the coronavirus. The Guard members were summoned to duty with just 36 hours' notice, said Capt. Scott Perry, noting that they "visited a total of four sites and did an over-the-phone assessment of another one."
