Hurricane Michael made landfall on the Florida Panhandle as a Category 4 storm, killing at least one person and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. If it feels like the hurricane came out of nowhere, that's because unlike Florence, which formed off of Africa, Michael developed in the southwest Caribbean late in the hurricane season.
