Combining oxytocin and ketamine can safely relieve severe, intractable pain and could replace short-acting opioids, a researcher told the Academy of Integrative Pain Management's annual meeting. A study of five patients showed 2 milligrams of liquid oxytocin plus from 12.5 mg to 25 mg of liquid ketamine provided pain relief in 10 minutes that lasted for about four hours.
