A group of compounds found in coffee called phenylindanes inhibit beta amyloid and tau protein clumping associated with Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, with dark roast more effective than light roast, according a study in the Frontiers of Neuroscience. However, more studies are needed before scientists can say whether coffee could play any role in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's treatment, researchers said.
