A study published in Nature Communications found patients with cancer who followed a fasting-mimicking diet had more positive chemotherapy outcomes and a greater rate overall of tumor reduction, and were partly protected against cellular damage from chemo, when compared with a control group. The diet included a plant-based meal plan of about 200 calories a day, which was followed three days before and one day after each chemotherapy cycle.
