The Biden administration is allocating $7.4 billion from the American Rescue Plan to boost the country's public health care workforce in response to the current pandemic and to prepare for future health crises. States and localities will get $3.4 billion to hire additional workers for pandemic response efforts such as vaccinations, testing and contact tracing, while at least $500 million will go toward the recruitment of school nurses to help with vaccination of young people.
