A study in the journal Clinical Cancer Research showed that 74.4% of 39 children who developed methotrexate-induced neurotoxicity out of 280 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia were Hispanic, compared with 20.5% who were white and 5.1% who were black. The findings also showed those with neurotoxicity were more likely to receive significantly fewer intrathecal methotrexate doses and slightly lower cumulative intravenous methotrexate doses, as resulting in a higher relapse risk.
