A breakthrough blood test involving blood protein classification and a machine learning algorithm to determine preclinical Alzheimer's disease biomarkers yielded 90% accuracy in matching PET scan results, as well as identified 10 protein features, two of which were previously determined as likely biomarkers. The technique, described in Science Advances, may be used to detect early Alzheimer's symptoms, but more studies are needed before using it for diagnosis, researchers said.
