SNMMI is part of a coalition of more than 75 medical groups that sent a letter to Congress urging lawmakers "to consider additional policy options in the year ahead" to resolve Medicare physician reimbursement cuts in the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The groups urged Congress to address deficiencies in the MPFS, including the budget neutrality requirement, which leads to arbitrary cuts unrelated to care, and the need to modernize the MPFS to reflect payment for provider collaboration. "Unfortunately, these goals are not reflected given that there are additional scheduled deep cuts to providers who are reimbursed under the MPFS for 2022, 2023 and 2024 that will negatively impact patient care and diminish practitioners' small businesses, further slowing our nation's health and economic recovery from the pandemic," the groups wrote.
