Researchers who used whole-brain PET/MRI with C-11-PBR28 found that individuals who experience migraine with aura had higher standardized uptake value ratios in brain regions involved in nociceptive processing and cortical spreading depression, suggesting a link between migraine with aura and neuroinflammation, compared with healthy controls. The findings were published in Neurology.
