Survey shows telehealth use growing among physicians

Fifty-one percent of internal medicine physicians and subspecialists polled reported that their organizations have implemented at least one form of telehealth service, with e-consults the most widely used, followed by remote care management and video visits, according to findings presented at the American College of Physicians annual meeting. Although 17% of respondents said they were interested in using video visit technology, some physicians would not implement virtual care options because of the difficulty of adding telehealth into their workflow, the lack of patient access to supporting telehealth technology and concerns over possible medical errors.
