A study in Neurology found 7.4% of adults with vision and hearing loss developed dementia over a six-year period, compared with 2.9% of those with just one impairment and 1.8% of those with no impairments. The study included more than 6,500 adults ages 58 to 101 who were assessed for vision and hearing loss.
