A report from the Lancet Oncology Commission on Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, presented at the 2021 European Congress of Radiology and published in The Lancet Oncology, revealed that increasing access to imaging resources could prevent up to 9.55 million deaths over the next 10 years, while investing in imaging and treatment could yield a net return of $12.43 for each $1 spent and a net benefit of $2.66 trillion. The commission has received support from the SNMMI and 26 other radiology groups.
