Teens with obesity who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass had more specialized psychiatric treatment after five years compared with those who received conventional treatment, according to a study in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health. The findings also showed improved self-esteem but similar overall mood versus baseline among those in the RYGB group.
