Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and obesity who underwent pre-maintenance chemotherapy had significantly more frequent insulin-requiring hypoglycemia and treatment-requiring hypertension compared with those without obesity, researchers reported in the journal Pediatric Blood & Cancer. The findings also showed increased incidence rates for recurrent febrile neutropenia admissions and recurrent admission-requiring infections among those with obesity.
