Advanced polyps tied to increased colon cancer risk

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found patients with advanced adenomas or polyps were at a 2.5 times higher long-term risk of colon cancer, compared with those with non-advanced polyps and those without polyps. The findings were based on 15,900 patients who underwent a colonoscopy as part of a trial and were followed for 15 years.
