Creating a national reporting system for usability and safety issues, addressing unintended harms, and establishing safety and standard usability measures may help improve the usability of EHR systems, researchers reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The researchers also recommended the development of basic design standards and simplification of federal documentation requirements to make EHRs easier to use.
