Radiologists should use low-dose radiation to treat patients with COVID-19 because the approach could reduce patient ICU admissions by one-third and cut ICU lengths of stay by at least 20%, according to a letter to the editor written by nuclear medicine experts that was published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine. "Time has come to make up for this mistake and exploit LDR to fight COVID-19 -- as a simple and standalone therapeutic procedure or as an adjunct to other forms of therapy being tested," they wrote.
