Parent-child psychotherapy improves symptoms for young kids with depression

A study in the American Journal of Psychiatry showed that children ages 3 to 6 with early childhood depression who underwent Parent-Child Interaction Therapy with the "emotional development module" had higher odds of developing less severe depression, fewer disorders and better emotional functioning as well as achieving remission. The findings also associated PCIT-ED with relief, as well as reduced depression symptoms and parenting-related stress among parents.
