A study presented at a radiology meeting found that a new house call intervention for older adult patients in rural areas adopted by an Indiana interventional radiology practice resulted in a 77% and 50% reduction in emergency department visits and hospital readmissions, respectively. Researchers also found that patient satisfaction scores jumped from 17% to 84% after the first year of the program, and radiologists' relationships improved with primary care physicians.
