A study in The BMJ showed that women with ductal carcinoma in situ had an increased likelihood of developing invasive breast cancer and dying from breast cancer in the long-term. The findings were based on 1988 to 2014 National Health Service Breast Screening Program data involving 35,024 UK women with DCIS.
