Alzheimer's, dementia research projects awarded $5M in grants

The NIH's National Institute on Aging has awarded a total of $5 million to a pair of research projects at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, one that uses artificial intelligence along with big data and another focused on biochemical pathways and genetics, aimed at finding treatments for Alzheimer's disease and dementia. "Vast amounts of data from seemingly unrelated sources present opportunities to researchers who aim to extract information that would help develop drugs or treatments," said associate professor Rong Xu, who is leading both projects.
