Study: Eating more plant-based foods can reduce BMI

A study found that the consumption of more plant-based foods is linked to reductions in body mass index and fat mass even if people did not strictly follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, researchers told the European Congress on Obesity. A second study of people who bought groceries online found a vegetarian diet cost about $2 per week less than a healthy US diet or a Mediterranean diet.
