The Holly Run to Tangier Island in the Chesapeake Bay began in 1968 when pilot Ed Nabb flew in the decorative foliage with his Ercoupe. The tradition has grown, and 44 aircraft participated in the latest Holly Run on Dec. 2, flying in with holly, funds and art supplies and leaving with 16 cats headed to adoptive homes.
