Pandemic prompts changes for GIs, practices

Some gastroenterologists are using telemedicine to see patients during the coronavirus pandemic, GIs at a New York City hospital are answering questions about the virus by phone, and others are being tasked with treating patients presenting with COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, instead of performing routine procedures. Physicians certified in internal medicine are going to be "in the hospital helping out with these patients," said ACG President Mark Pochapin, MD.
