The Trump administration has appointed Norman Sharpless, an oncologist and director of the National Cancer Institute, to serve as acting commissioner of the FDA following Scott Gottlieb's resignation, which will take effect next month. "Sharpless' deep scientific background and expertise will make him a strong leader for FDA," HHS Secretary Alex Azar said.
