The survival rates for patients diagnosed with grade 3 acute-on-chronic liver failure are not improving, although overall, the number of liver failure cases is declining, according to a study published in the Journal of Hepatology. The cause of the cirrhosis, demographics and other factors affect outcomes, write Dr. Ruben Hernaez of the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Texas and colleagues in the study.
