More than 100 new types of gut bacteria were identified during a study by Samuel Forster, BSc, BIS, BBiomedSc(Hons), PhD, of the Wellcome Sanger Institute and Hudson Institute of Medical Research in Australia, which was published in Nature Biotechnology. The research led to the creation of a bacteria database that will improve how scientists study the microbiome.
