Burnout, distress among clinicians will outlast pandemic

The novel coronavirus pandemic has amplified existing emotional distress and burnout problems among US health care professionals, and experts expect the effects will remain long after the crisis has faded. "There is a wave of depression, letdown, true PTSD and a feeling of not caring anymore that is coming," said Dr. Mark Rosenberg, chairman of the emergency department at St. Joseph's Health in Paterson, N.J.
