When GI physicians, endoscopy nurses, anesthesiologists and pharmacists work together, the outcome of inpatient bowel preps for colonoscopies improves, according to a study presented at the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting. Inadequate bowel prep could result in about $1,000 in additional costs, a delayed diagnosis and a longer hospital stay, said Alexandra Strauss, MD, of Johns Hopkins Medicine.
