Study: Over 31% of women experience IBD flare a year after giving birth

More than 31% of pregnant women with inflammatory bowel disease included in a study led by Ashwin Ananthakrishnan, MD, MPH, of the division of gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital had a flare within a year of giving birth. Disease activity during the third trimester and therapy changes were factors in the flares, according to the study published in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases.
