Around 50% of HIV patients get the recommended hepatitis C test within 12 months of their diagnosis, according to a study published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases, which examined insurance data from 2003 to 2017. Men were more likely to get tested than women and rural residents were less likely to take the test than those in urban areas, the study found.
