Study: Timely diagnosis key to managing IBD

A study examining the length of time between the onset of gastrointestinal symptoms and an inflammatory bowel disease diagnosis found that patients with an emergent presentation were more likely to have complicated disease than those who had a delayed diagnosis. A delayed diagnosis is more likely in patients with Crohn's disease than in patients with ulcerative colitis, according to the study, which was published in Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics.
