More than 40 levees along the Missouri River were damaged this spring after being exposed to flooding, but only some of the construction contracts to repair them have been awarded as work remains hindered by the extent of the damage. Communities affected by the flooding will likely stay exposed to high water for at least a few more months as the Army Corps of Engineers relies on helicopters and watercraft to survey the damage.
