Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University are working with Amazon Web Services to apply machine learning to cancer diagnostics, medical imaging, precision medicine and voice-enabled technologies for health care. Researchers want to create platforms for calculating individualized cancer risk scores, diagnosing mental health conditions based on verbal and visual cues, reducing medical errors by mining EHRs, guiding treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms and other applications.
