One million species around the world may become extinct due to the combination of global economic growth and climate change, according to a report by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. "This loss is a direct result of human activity and constitutes a direct threat to human well-being in all regions of the world," says the report, written by experts from 50 countries.
