A deal made between Greenpeace and meatpackers 10 years ago was intended to prevent some of the fires the Amazon is currently experiencing, but certain elements of the deal were not fulfilled, according to environmentalists and academics. "The agreement has so many holes, the deforestation is still just going on," said geographer Holly Gibbs of the University of Wisconsin.
